We will look closely at the relationships you had with your parents and siblings, and any other caregivers who were important during your childhood. We will explore traumatic/painful memories and unresolved wounding. This process is most similar to old-fashioned psychoanalysis in that it will help you find the source of your struggles.

We will look closely at how you think about and perceive situations that cause you distress. I will teach you how to notice and change patterns in your thoughts that lead to uncomfortable feelings and distress. Your self-talk will become healthier.

If you’ve lost a loved one and are grieving, or if you didn’t get the chance to grieve, I will help you heal from the loss. You will feel a renewed sense of insight, awareness and acceptance. You will learn how self-compassion and spirituality can lead to peace and contentment.

This approach combines cognitive therapy with psychodynamic therapy to look at how pervasive patterns in our thoughts and beliefs create conflict in our relationships to others. Schemas are often faulty ways we interpret external experiences. It’s as if we unconsciously chunk events under a predetermined negative category. These unconscious cognitive interpretations can be reframed and changed.
